Somnidren-GH ULTRA’s website boldly proclaims this sleep aid maximizes REM sleep. But, it’s not solely a natural insomnia remedy.

At the same time, Somnidren-GH ULTRA also allegedly provides these additional benefits:

• Stimulate growth hormone release
• Speed up muscle recovery
• Decrease stress and anxiety

I like the idea of a sleep-promoting supplement with multiple positive effects. Somnidren-GH ULTRA fits that bill, at least according to its website.

Nevertheless, my main interest in Somnidren-GH ULTRA is whether it improves sleep quality. Close inspection of Somnidren-GH ULTRA’s ingredients, usage directions, price, and other factors will reveal its overall value as a sleep aid.

Ingredient Profile

Among Somnidren-GH ULTRA’s more than 20 ingredients, I identified 6 that might affect sleep.

GABA
Gamma-aminobutyric acid, GABA for short, is a neurotransmitter. When its receptors become active, it enhances several sleep stages. However, research indicates GABA may reduce, rather than increase, REM sleep. [1]

Choline Bitartrate
Choline is a precursor to acetylcholine, an important sleep-related neurotransmitter. People with sleep disorders like apnea often have a dietary choline deficiency. [2] More research is necessary to link choline with inducing sleep, though.

DMAE Bitartrate
Like choline, DMAE is a chemical precursor to acetylcholine. [3] DMAE has been studied as a means of inducing lucid dreams, but it’s not clear how effective it is. [4]

Humulus Lupulus
Humulus lupulus is usually known as hops. This sedative decreased nighttime activity and improved sleep when tested in quails. [5] However, human studies of hops as a sleep aid usually use valerian as well. [6] Unfortunately, Somnidren-GH ULTRA contains no valerian.

Piscidia Piscipula
Commonly known as Jamaica dogwood, this plant has strong sedative effects. But, since it’s used as a fish poison, it’s considered toxic and should not be taken without consulting a doctor. Piscidia piscipula side effects include numbness, tremors, salivation, and sweating. [7]

Lactuca Virosa
Lactuca virosa is a variety of wild lettuce which relieves pain and creates feelings of relaxation. It’s not proven to induce sleep. [8] Moreover, like piscidia piscipula, it’s considered toxic in certain dosages. [9]

Side Effects

There are a few side effects to watch for when taking Somnidren-GH ULTRA.

Minor tingling sensations, deeper respiration, or “heaviness in the body” are all listed as potential side effects on the official product webpage. I’m not sure what is meant by the phrase “heaviness in the body,” but that is the wording on the website.

Exceeding the recommended dosage may result in additional negative side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, or euphoria. Euphoria, a feeling of intense happiness, is considered a side effect when it’s induced by chemical means.

Customer Reviews

A few Somnidren-GH ULTRA customers have left feedback about this product online.

Ben, a reviewer on NutraPlanet.com, had this to say about Somnidren-GH ULTRA:

“I fall asleep just as fast, wake up refreshed and don’t wake up with that phenibut sluggishness.”

Ben was comparing Somnidren-GH ULTRA to plain Somnidren-GH, which contains phenibut, an ingredient not found in Somnidren-GH ULTRA.

Another NutraPlanet.com reviewer, Chuck, agreed with Ben. He wrote:

“I totally agree with Ben, the change of not having Phenibut doesn’t change anything for me in falling asleep, but changes tons in waking up. NO sluggishness to start my day is perfect!!”

But, without more reviews, it’s hard to make a final judgment about Somnidren-GH ULTRA’s efficacy.

A Somnidren-GH ULTRA bottle contains 110 capsules, or 22 servings. This supply lasts approximately a month because Somnidren-GH ULTRA is meant to be cycled: 5 days on, 2 days off.

There are 5 capsules in a Somnidren-GH ULTRA serving. These should be taken a half hour to an hour before bed.

It is best to take Somnidren-GH ULTRA on an empty stomach, but it can also be taken 30 minutes before or after eating protein. However, avoid taking it with carbs such as sugar. This causes an insulin spike that counteracts growth hormone secretion.

Suggested Precautions

Because Somnidren-GH ULTRA is intended to induce extra-restful sleep, people shouldn’t drive or perform other activities that require alert attention after taking a dosage. Similarly, it is not meant to be taken around the same time as alcohol.

Like many natural health supplements, Somnidren-GH ULTRA is not for pregnant or nursing women, people with physical or mental health conditions, or who take prescription medications.

Potential toxicity of piscidia piscipula and lactuca virosa, even in Somnidren-GH ULTRA’s likely small dosages, is enough to keep me away from this product.
